Most baby trackers that sync ask you to create an account first. Vaava works the other way: the timeline syncs between phones over the internet and restores on a new device, and neither step asks for an email address or a password. Access comes from a one-time invite, and identity is proved with a recovery key you hold.
Syncing without an email address or password
The owner turns on Family Data Sharing once. There is no sign-up form. Content is encrypted on the device before upload, and the service holds encrypted content plus limited routing information, so nobody at Vaava can read the timeline.
Inviting a partner, grandparent, or nanny takes a one-time QR code or invitation link rather than a shared login. Because no password is shared, nobody is handing out credentials that work on any phone they please, and the owner can remove a member later.
Each person who joins gets their own identity and their own recovery key rather than using the owner's, so one compromised phone does not hand over the whole family's access.
What the recovery key replaces
A recovery key does the job an account password would normally do. It proves the identity that owns the timeline and lets a new phone restore it. You see it once when you enable sharing, and it belongs to you rather than to the family invite.
Vaava cannot recover a lost key, because it cannot read the encrypted content in the first place. Nobody at Vaava, including the developer, holds a copy of anything that could open it. Keep it somewhere safe outside the phone.

What this covers, and what it leaves out
You get a timeline that follows everyone across networks, plus an encrypted copy that restores after a lost or replaced phone, all without creating an account anywhere.
Two things it does not do. If every device holding the key is gone and the key is lost too, the data is unrecoverable, which is the price of Vaava not holding a copy. And it is not a replacement for free local Wi-Fi sharing when both parents are usually in the same house, since that path costs nothing and never touches a server.

How do I restore the timeline on a new phone without a login?
Use your recovery key. On a new phone, choose to restore the family and enter the recovery QR or the 52-character code that was shown when sharing was enabled. Vaava cannot recover a lost key, so keep it somewhere outside the phone.
Is an invite link the same as an account password?
No. An invite is single-use and expires, and it grants one new member access rather than reusing credentials that already exist. Each member then gets a separate identity and recovery key, so access can be removed individually later.
Can Vaava read my family timeline?
